……..GUCCI MANE.
I think Gucci Mane is the best hip hop producer on the scene.
I don’t know exactly what he does, but for female artists especially he brings out the best in them. The females that rap with Gucci on records, I assume who are just girls from his hood, or his girlfriends, they aren’t big names. They are the best female rappers I hear in the genre today by far, no competition. One female rapper named Enchanting represent this well rapping on Gucci’s track Homeboy on a Shirt.
Gucci working flawlessly with female hip hop artists is showcased beautifully when working with Nicky Minage.
Especially in a track Gucci produced and they perform together called Love. It’s the best I’ve heard Nicky rap since Monster on My Dark Twisted Fantasy and solo track Lookin Ass Ni$$a (Explicit)
- ha but no shit. She ruins all who listens to this track.
But I remember when I first heard Love by Nicky and Gucci, I was walking around half paying attention to Youtube when It drew my attention in and I just sat watching and drooling at the fucking beauty. He is great at incorporating gangster Nicky with pop star Nicky and allowing her to extend her time on the track, which happens in Monster as well and is always a great choice when working with Nicky, but not done often enough.
Gucci brings the best out in the female artists he produces and this is only one of the reasons I love him.
“I'm a cold-hearted bitch, hurt your feelings, got you pissed.
Suck your soul, snatch your kids, have you runnin', slit your wrists
Ain't no tellin' when I'm lit, I bust your head down with your sticks” - Homeboy on a shirt ENCHANTING
I love Gucci’s sense of humour too and his commitment to the game. There is no facade when it comes to Gucci, he is what he is in all his lo-fi to hi-fi glory and THIS IS REAL HIP HOP ATTITUDE.
He ain’t trying to be political, he’s just doing what he has to do to get by and what he has to do to avoid jail time.
His last stint in jail, I believe he got clean and after that he started making the music I’ve been referring to. Getting clean really helped Gucci and instead of professing his love of recovery like Eminiem (fail), he wrote one track about it on this first release once out of prison, which was really well produced and not at all preachy or patronising. Tracks on the same album also include, “First day out the Feds.” Great track and music video. It is very representative of who Gucci is and I am in awe of how well he knows himself to portray himself like this, with the upmost realness going around:
And that ice cream tattoo is iconic…
BRRRRRRRRRRR
It’s cold in here. GUCCCHHHI.
Top 5 hip hop songs of 2023
1. The Hillbillies
Baby Keem, Kendrick Lamar feat. Tyler the Creator
Eyes Closed
Chester Watson
Heisman
Q Da Fool
Gunsmoke Town
Kodak Black
All My Life (feat. J. Cole)
ELil Durk, J. Cole
Personally, I absolutely loved 3 and 4. 1 is 1 for a reason, can’t fault it. 2 has been done, not sure why it would take off tbh. 5 is made for commercial success, children singing in it. Meh. J.Cole….meh.
Disagree? Let me know why.
